Firms should take reasonable care to ensure that every letter (or electronic equivalent i.e. email) includes the regulatory statement ‘Authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority’. It should also be clear of the firm’s name that is regulated by the FCA.
This rule extends to letterheads, fax headers, electronic mail such as emails and compliment slips (used as letters).
Account statements, text messages and business cards are not classed as letters therefore the regulatory statement is not required to be seen.
